The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) was formed 20 years ago, giving the college football a definitive title game for the first time. To celebrate 20 years of championship games, ESPN Analytics calculated overall, offensive and defensive ratings to find the strongest national champions. The model includes all FBS teams and approximately 15,000 games to establish teams' strength to return a rating measured in points above the average team.
