Several wildfires are burning across the western part of the country, at a time when the seasons first heat wave is approaching and raising the fire risk for the region. Firefighters have made progress on the largest -- the Sand Fire -- with Cal Fire saying today the inferno burning northwest of Sacramento did not grow overnight.
